Nestled at the base of the monstrous stone idol is a strange contraption.
A cold iron cauldron is suspended above a small pile of coal. Above it, rusty pipework leads into the back of a gargoyle, beaten out of lead. In lieu of an eye, a handle of some kind protrudes from its grimacing face. Beside it, a chain is connected to the top of a large bellows, its nozzle pointed at the coal.
